What is manuscript evaluation: The first look. I read the full manuscript and send you an editorial letter: where the book is strong, where it stumbles, and what I’d tackle first. No margin notes, no tracked changes. This is the option if you want an honest read before deciding how deep to go.
Developmental Editing
3 cents a word
What is developmental editing: This is the structural edit. I’m digging into plot, pacing, character arcs, stakes, and whether each scene is earning its place. You get a detailed editorial letter plus comments throughout the manuscript pointing to the exact spots and explaining my reasoning. I won’t touch your prose. I’ll show you the problem and a few ways through it.
Line Editing

What is line editing: For when the story is in shape and the sentences need attention. I work through every line for rhythm, clarity, word choice, and dialogue that reads like people talking. I flag where the language drags or muddies the moment and suggest tighter ways to say it. Your style stays yours. It just hits harder.
Double Take Package
Developmental edit at full price, line edit at half price
Why do developmental and line editing work better as a package: Both edits, one editor, better rate. Most books need the structural pass and the sentence pass, and they work best in that order. I find the gaps in your plot, you revise, then I tighten the prose in the version you’re keeping. The person who spotted the problems is the same one fixing the sentences around them, so nothing slips between editors.
How it works: Pay for the developmental edit and I get started. Once you’ve worked through my notes, send the new draft back and the line edit is priced on its word count. Editing sentences that might not survive the rewrite helps no one.

Projects I Accept

- Science fiction
- Dark romance
- Poetry
- Children’s books (picture books through middle grade)
Not because there’s anything wrong with them, just because they’re not where I’m strongest, and you deserve an editor who is.
Where I Draw the Line
- Anything that harms kids. Sexual content, abuse, violence. A child dying as part of a bigger story is one thing. A book built around harm to children is something I can’t read.
- Sexual violence that’s there for shock value or entertainment instead of story.
- Graphic torture. Of people or animals, doesn’t matter.
- Gore and body horror. Not my thing.
- Books that promote racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other flavor of bigotry.
- Manuscripts written by AI. I understand it’s a useful tool, but it doesn’t make art. If the prose came out of a machine, there’s no voice for me to sharpen, and I’m not reading it.
Dark themes are fine. Plenty of great books go to hard places. These are the lines I don’t cross, and I’d rather you know upfront.
And for the record: sex on the page doesn’t bother me. The list above is about harm, not heat.
