About Me
If you’ve been staring at your manuscript for so long that the words have stopped making sense: hi, I’m Jen, and I’m the fresh set of eyes you’ve been looking for.
I’m a developmental and line editor. If you want a preliminary read, I offer manuscript evaluations. Whichever service you pick, the goal is the same: to make sure readers experience the story as you imagined it. I’m not here to rewrite the book in my voice. I’m here to sharpen yours.
So what do I bring to the table? For education, I have a BA in English and Creative Writing and an MA in Publishing. My work experience is in acquisitions and editing. The first taught me what lifts a manuscript to the top of the slush pile. The second put me inside the making of books, and I realized that every step of the process deserves the same devotion as the writing. That is the foundation of Moon Maiden Press.
As for what I’m like to work with: my feedback is clear, collaborative, and free of judgment. You won’t get vague notes about anything “feeling off.” If something isn’t working, I’ll tell you what and why. Then you pick which suggestions to take or ignore. And that’s the key word: you. This is your book. My part is bringing out its best for the readers waiting to find it.
I’m also a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces. If you’re writing military fiction or memoir, I know that world firsthand, including all the things civilians tend to get wrong. And if you’re writing a cozy fantasy instead? Still your girl. Plus, I give a discount to those who’ve served, to honor the community I came from.
You got your story this far. Let’s get it the rest of the way together.
